GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - In a key NWLL match-up, Aquinas visited Davenport today and left with a 17-5 victory.  The Saints' offense was just too much for DU as the Lady Panthers fall to 5-5 on the year and 2-5 in league play.  They return to action on Saturday at Siena Heights in another conference game.

Both teams took some time to feel each other out as the defenses played strong in the early minutes of the contest.  Schae Hoebeke was the first to score in the game and gave DU the early 1-0 lead.  It was all Aquinas from there, however, as they scored five goals in a row.  Michon Moline was able to add two goals for the Lady Panthers, but were outscored 9-3 in the half.

The second half started similarly to the first as both defenses kept their opponent from scoring for the first seven and a half minutes of the final stanza.  Aquinas then scored two quick back-to-back goals to break the scoring drought.  Moline answered right back for DU with an unassisted goal to make the score 11-7.

Aquinas went on an offensive tear from that point on scoring six straight goals.  Moline was able to find the back of the net in the closing minutes, but it was not enough as the Saints wrapped up the 17-5 victory.  Despite the lopsided outcome, Amanda Prins had a strong game in goal with 12 saves.  Moline finished the game with four goals.

On refocusing for Saturday's game against Siena Heights - "We are definitely not overlooking Siena Heights.  Any team can take a win from us.  We are going to prepare by looking at their stats and film from our game and fix some of our mistakes."

Goalie Amanda Prins

On the play of the defense - "We've had a lot of games in a row and it's easy to get exhausted, but we tried to stay strong and stay tight on them."

On the overall improvement of the team this season - "Compared to when we were down south, we have improved immensely.  It's a really great feeling and every game I feel like we picked up on something.  We are still trying to work on our stick skills, we have come together as a team and are communicating a lot better."
