GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - In the final game of the regular season the Panthers needed overtime to take down Missouri Baptist 14-13.
Kaitlyn Lowden led all scorers with six goals as Davenport clinched the 7
th seed in the NWL Tournament.
Davenport got off to a slow start and fell behind 4-0 nine minutes into the game. The Panthers responded with two goals of their own as
Schae Hoebeke and
Michon Moline each found the back of the net to pull within two goals with 17:10 remaining.
After trailing for the majority of the half, the Panthers went on a 4-0 run in the last 4:14 and took a 6-5 lead into the second half.
Letesha Cannonier sparked the run after taking the ball the distance and scoring her only goal of the game.
Kaitlyn Lowden picked up two goals in the run and
Taylor Balch added the final goal before half.
The score remained close the whole second half as the largest lead for each team was two goals. Senior
Valerie Carr picked up the
first goal of the half to give Davenport a 7-5 lead. Short after Missouri Baptist went on a 4-0 run to take a 9-7 lead.
Davenport clawed back and tied the game 9-9 with 11:59 remaining in the second half after goals from Lowden and Balch. With 2:44 remaining Lowden scored her fifth goal of the game and gave Davenport their first lead since the 21:38 mark of the second half. Missouri Baptist scored with 1:02 remaining to send the game into overtime.
The Panthers came out and dominated the first overtime period. Lowden finished of her career day by adding her sixth goal of the game with 0:57 left in the period. With 13 seconds left in the period Davenports lone Senior Val Carr added what ended up being the game winning goal.
Davenport received goals from six different players and were led by
Kaitlyn Lowden and
Taylor Balch who had 6 and 3 goals respectively.
Amanda Prins recorded 9 saves in net for the Panthers who will face SCAD in the NWL tournament.

On 6-1 home season and conference tournament - "To be honest I think it is how we got matched up with teams at home this year. We played SVAC at the beginning of the year and with so many young kids, it will be really good to come back and see how we can match up the second time against them after playing them in the first week of the season

Kaitlyn Lowden posted six goals today and that is tied her for second on the all-time single game goals list...Davenport finishes their first season in conference play with a 4-6 record...The Panthers have won nine out of their last 11 games after starting the season 0-4...DU will play in the NWLL post-season tournament next week in Rome, Ga and will play SCAD in the first round game.
