Women's Lacrosse Finishes Season with a 9-6 Victory over Missouri Baptist

ROME, Ga. – In their final game of the National Women's Lacrosse League tournament and the 2012 season, Davenport was poised to finish the year with a win.  They finished with a 9-6 victory over Missouri Baptist.  The Lady Panthers finished 7th in the tournament and completed their season with a 10-9 record.

Davenport just faced Missouri Baptist last Friday and defeated the Spartans 14-13 in overtime.  Today's matchup was a defensive battle.  Both teams combined for only 15 goals.

Most of the game's offense occurred in the first half.  Davenport started off the scoring with two quick goals from Kaitlyn Lowden and Taylor Balch.

Missouri Baptist then answered with two of their own before Valerie Carr and Michon Moline found the back of the net to go up 4-2.

The Spartans took over the lead after three unanswered goals put them up 5-4.  The first half ended with DU goals from Lexi Kruse and Alison Bouman giving the Panthers a slim 6-5 advantage at halftime.

The second half was dominated by the DU defense.  The allowed only one goals on six shots.  The Panthers would add three more of their own from Moline, Balch, and Mackenzie VanderWarf giving them the 9-6 victory.

Balch and Moline finished with two goals each.

Balch finished the season with 47 goals to lead the Panthers…Amands Prins was seven saves short of tying the single season record finishing the year with 207 saves…Moline took over the first spot on goals scored in a career with 110.
