Burt Paddock and his staff recently signed Dominez Burnett from Lansing Summit Christian Academy. Dominez was a high school stand-out at Flint Hamady where he averaged 23 points and 12 rebounds per game. The guard adds to an already impressive recruiting class for the defending WHAC Champions.
Dominez, a 6'5 200 pound guard received multiple honors while at Hamady including; 1
st Team All-State, 1
st Team All-Conference, All-Area, League MVP. One of the most prestigious awards Burnett received was the 2011 Black Scholar Award in addition to earning honor roll accolades in high school.
Dominez will help to fill the void left by graduating senior wings
Damacious White and 3rd team All-American
James Nelson. “It is a challenge to replace student-athletes like Mace and Nelson but we feel we've got a tremendous start in filling that void, said head coach
Burt Paddock. Dominez is incredibly versatile in that he can play 1-4 at both ends of the floor. He can shoot it, drive it and is a terrific rebounder for a guard. Obviously, there will be growing pains in that he is only a freshman but we have an immense amount of confidence that Dominez can step in and make major contributions from day 1.”
Dominez plans to earn a business degree in sports management while attending Davenport University, commented Burnett upon signing with the NAIA D2 basketball powerhouse. “It feels great to be a Panther! I feel like I have found my 2
nd family. I can't wait to get with my team and start competing for championships at Davenport. Personally, I am looking forward to seeing how far I can go as a basketball player. However, most importantly I hope to graduate on time and earn a college degree,”
“We are very excited to add Dominez to our program, added Paddock. He is a tremendous player but even better he is a fantastic student. We look forward to getting him and all of our new recruits on campus in the fall to prepare for another great season of Panther Basketball!”
