The Panthers built got off to a solid start from opening tip, building an 11-3 lead at the 16:30 mark. But the eight-point lead would slowly disappear after the Mustangs (1-19, 1-11 WHAC) used three straight 3-pointers and a layup to cut Panthers lead to 23-21 with 12:12 left.
After a Mustang layup brought the score down to to 31-30, the Panthers got back on track as Tigner scored five points in the span of one minute to reestablish the eight-point lead.
Davenport went into the locker room with a 47-37 lead. Ford led the Panthers in the opening half with 11 points and four rebounds, Davis added eight points and Burnett contributed seven.

Despite playing away from their home floor, Marygrove had no trouble using the 3-point line to keep pace with the Panthers, going 7-for-15 in the half.
Both teams traded off baskets during each possession, but the team of
Ryan Dame, Tigner,
Sean Hill and Burnett helped the Panthers combined for a 10-0 run to take a 63-52 lead with 13:03 left.
