Perfection! Panthers Shutout Saginaw Valley State to Finish Fall Season 7-0

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Davenport women's rugby team closed the book on the inaugural regular season with another solid all-around performance. Hunter Moreland led the pack of nine Panthers to record a try with three; Hannah Tennant added 10 conversions and the Panther defense kept another opponent scoreless in their 85-0 road victory over Saginaw Valley State Saturday. DU closes the book on the regular campaign going a perfect 7-0.

In addition to shutting out the Cardinals, the Panthers finish the season only allowing a try on the season, dating back to when Ferris State broke through the Panthers defense on Sept. 13.
 
Brittany O'Dell and Karah Warriner both brought the ball to the try zone on two occasions.
 
In a contest that was played under two 30-minute halves, the Panthers quickly put the game out of the Cardinals reach within 10 minutes. They go on the board 2:45 into the contest with a try by Cassie Clark, O'Dell followed 1:15 later and Makala Ferguson at the 26:15 mark. Moreland got the first of her three tries at 25:06 and Karah Warriner's first try at 21:14 gave the Panthers a 33-0 lead.
 
Davenport went into intermission with a 59-0 lead. Tennant made all but one of her eight kicks in the half while Danielle Ordway missed her only conversion.
 
Moreland opened up the second half with a try two minutes in and completed the hat trick at 15:47.
