KINGSTON, R.I. – Chantal Caraher scored one goal and added three assists, Darian Adams had two goals as the duo helped the Davenport women's hockey team snap a three-game losing skid with a 6-4 victory over Vermont in day two of the ACHA Division I Showcase. The Panthers begin the final day of the showcase with a matchup against Northeastern Sunday at 8 a.m. before returning to Grand Rapids.

Adams got the Panthers first goal in off a pass from Caraher that came from behind the net. It was déjà vu all over again as the two repeated the same play two minutes later. Caraher followed the same path a third time only she connected to Nichole Werkema, who made a one-time shot to the back of the net for her second goal of the year.

Vermont cut the deficit to 3-1 before heading into the locker room for the first intermission.

The Panthers quickly jumped out of the gate in the second period when Lexie Boydston scored 1:20 in. Boydston add on to the lead with a power play goal 2:15 later using a great puck movement with help from Tara Boliard and Melissa Cresse. The Catamounts was able to beat netminder Victoria Smishek before heading into the locker room for a second time trailing the Panthers 5-2.

The Catamounts added a third goal at the beginning of the third period but Caraher responded not too long with a one-time shot from the left circle. Vermont scored again inside the four-minute mark but Davenport managed to hold on to win the contest.

Post-Game Quote – Head Coach Tom Hofman

"The effort was much better today from the whole team. (Assistant) coach Lauren (Ivasile) implemented a new power play set up to open up some more passing and shooting lanes and it definitely paid off today. The team caught on right away and they looked spectacular out there. We took our loss yesterday and made the best of it, adjusted a few things and it paid off big time for us. Our goal is to grow day-by-day and bouncing back after a tough loss yesterday really shows the maturity we have, even in this young team."
