GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Kevin Rich went for a career high 17 points and Dominez Burnett posted 20 plus points for the seventh straight game as the pair led the No. 10 ranked Panthers to a 69-53 win over Lawrence Tech on Saturday afternoon at the Student Center. The win lifts DU to 8-2 on the year and 4-2 in league play as they will return to the court on Saturday, December 14 at 3 p.m.

Davenport, which rebounded from a rare two game losing skid with a road win at Siena Heights on Wednesday, got off to a fast start that saw them score 12 of the first 15 points which included a 10-0 run finished off by a fast-break tip in from freshman Braima Hai.

The lead grew to as many as 14 in the opening half (33-14) but the long ball kept the Blue Devils in the contest as they connected on 5-14 from long range including a pair each from Jon Harden and Thomas Hoff. Lawrence Tech rallied down the stretch to finish the opening half down just nine at 33-24.

The Blue Devils then opened the second half with a quick three-pointer to bring the margin down to just six but that would be as close as they would get for the remainder of the game. LTU did stay within 10 for most of the second half but the play from Kevin Rich (a career high 17 points) and Dominez Burnett (20 points) were too much for the Blue Devils.

Davenport put the game away with a 12-4 run late to put them up by their largest margin of 18 as they finished the game off shooting 46% from the floor while limiting the Blue Devils to 31.8%. It marked the second straight game DU has held an opponent to less than 35% from the floor and less than 55 points.

The Panthers held the advantage on the glass 33-32 while also forcing LTU into four more turnovers (14-10). Other stat leaders for the Panthers included Rich with seven rebounds and three assist while JaVontae Ford had five assists.

Davenport will return to action in one week when they travel to Madonna University for a 3 p.m. tip against the Crusaders. Madonna is tied for first in the conference standings at 4-1 after falling to Cornerstone on the road today.

Post-Game Notes
Dominez Burnett hit the 20-point plateau for the seventh straight game with a game high 20 while Kevin Rich upped his career high to 17 (he had 14 in the win at Northwestern on November 9)…Davenport picks up their third win of the year at home…
