Scouting Aquinas – 12-18, 10-12 WHAC – Head coach Dave Hammer (10th year)
Aquinas comes into the game on Thursday as the eighth seed in the conference tournament. The Saints, under 10th year head coach Dave Hammer, started the season with just one win in their first nine contests and have yet to post a winning streak of more than three games. The last time these two teams faced off, the Panthers raced out to a 19-point halftime lead and cruised to the 26-point win which was the largest for DU over Aquinas in the 10-year rivaly.. Austin Semple, who had a career day back on January 5 (an 84-79 OT win for AQ) with 27 points, leads the team in scoring at 12.4 points per game and he also leads the team in rebounding (6.3) and blocked shots (9). Aquinas is ranked No. 9 in the NAIA in points allowed per game at just 60.0 and they hold their opponents to a measly 40.3% from the field.
Davenport enters having won their last four games and they wrapped up their second straight WHAC title with a league record in wins (18).
Dominez Burnett took over the team lead in scoring as he averages just over 14 points per night while
JaVontae Ford is just behind him at 13.7. DU will rely on their defense that ranks just ahead of the Saints in scoring defense (8
th - 57.9) and fourth in FG% defense (37.7%).
