GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Davenport women's lacrosse team returns to action this week as it welcomes Beltline rival Aquinas for a Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference contest Tuesday at 5 p.m. before hosting NCAA Division II Notre Dame College (Ohio) Saturday at 3 p.m. Fans can watch the game live on the Davenport Athletics Network (DAN) with Gene Halbert on the call.

The Lady Panthers are midway through their 2013 campaign and enters the week with a 6-2 record overall, 1-1 in the WHAC.

Freshman Tara Pluger has been leading the way for the Lady Panthers during the two weeks of the season as she was the first student-athlete to reach double digits in goals with 11 goals. Pluger is still leading the team with 22 goals, and in addition to notching six assists, she has 28 points which ranks second-best on the team. Taylor Balch paces the Panthers with 35 points.

Aquinas made a visit to DU Turf Field last season and walked off with a huge 17-5 victory over Davenport. Michon Moline led the effort for the Panthers by scoring four goals, while Schae Hoebeke tallied the fifth one. Both teams took some time to feel each other out as the defenses played strong in the early minutes of the contest.  Hoebeke broke the ice and gave DU the early 1-0 lead.  It was all Aquinas from there, however, as they scored five goals in a row.  Michon Moline was able to add two goals for the Lady Panthers, but were outscored 9-3 in the half.

Notre Dame and Davenport met for the first time last season in South Euclid, Ohio, where the Falcons ran away with a 20-4 victory. Schae Hoebeke, Michon Moline, Taylor Balch and Kaitlyn Lowden each scored on the Panthers behalf. The Lady Panthers gave up their largest number of goals entering that point of the season. The Falcons set the tone of the game early as they scored three goals in the first two minutes of play and went on to lead 4-0 before DU got on the scoreboard.
