Weekly Notes
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Coming off a tough defeat Saturday, the Davenport women's lacrosse team had Sunday to prepare for a road game Monday at Robert Morris (Ill.) with a 7 p.m. EDT start. The Panthers busy week will continue Wednesday as they will host Siena Heights in key Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference contest at 4 p.m.
The Panthers are looking to get back into not only their winning ways, but into their scoring rhythm as they were able to net a pair of goals in their loss to Notre Dame (Ohio) Saturday.
Kaitlyn Lowden and
Hannah Maroe both tallied the goal for Davenport, while goalie
Lena Henderson stopped 11 shots but conceded 16 goals in the loss.
Davenport has been doing well against its upcoming opponents all-time, leading Robert Morris with record of 2-1 while going a perfect 2-0 against Siena Heights.
Michon Moline,
Valerie Carr and Lowden net five goals apiece as the trio steered Davenport to a 21-11 home victory over Robert Morris last year. Davenport came out firing and quickly built a 7-0 lead less than nine minutes into the first half. Six different Panthers scored during that run. Robert Morris responded with two goals with their first coming on a free position shot.
Sara Kuzava scored four goals,
Amy VanEns added two and
Taylor Balch had one along with a pair of assists as they helped Davenport halt Siena Heights' late rally to win the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference contest 10-8 two weeks ago.
Tara Pluger and
Schae Hoebeke both recorded a goal and an assist while
Emily DeVries tallied what was eventually the game winning goal.
Lena Henderson made a return to the pipes for the first time in two games. She stopped eight shots and was awarded her fourth win of the season.
