Women’s Lacrosse Opens Home Schedule This Week with Three Games

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Coming off a successful 3-1 road trip to start the season last week, the Davenport women's lacrosse team will now open the home side of its 2013 schedule with three contests this week. The Lady Panthers will host Alma Tuesday at 4 p.m., Calvin Thursday at 4 p.m. and Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference foes Indiana Tech Saturday at 6 p.m. Fans can watch the game live on the Davenport Athletics Network (D.A.N).
 
Davenport has a long stretch of games played DU Turf Field coming up. While opening the home schedule with three games this week, the Lady Panthers will also be playing six of their next eight on their turf.
 
Alma is off to a hot start to begin the season, score more than 15 goals and going 4-0 last week. Tracy Gallihugh has been leading the way for the Scots, scoring 17 goals in three games.
 
Calvin is currently in their first season as a varsity program. Their first game will be against the Panthers Thursday. Laying the foundation of the program is their alumni Blake Boehm, who has guided the women's lacrosse club team since the 2008 season.
 
Under new head coach Emily Shreeve, Indiana Tech opened its 2013 season with a 17-6 win at McKendree last Saturday. Kendall Guthrie put Indiana Tech on top right away by scoring the first goal 15 seconds into the contest. She finished the day with two goals along with Holly Holod, Nikki Rottell, Autumn McMillin and Aubri Hazen. Ashley Elvey played a half between the pipes while the other 30 minutes were split between Gabby Young and Meaghan Eldridge.
