GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Davenport women's lacrosse team will be wrapping up its 2013 regular-season this week with three contests against Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference foes. The Panthers will travel to Aquinas Tuesday and first-place Indiana Tech Wednesday for 5 p.m. starts before hosting the Saints at DU Turf Field Saturday at 6 p.m. Before the start of the contest, Davenport will bid adieu to two members as senior
Amy VanEns and
Britteny Willis will play their final home games.
This week's matchups will determine the seeding of the upcoming Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference Tournament beginning next week. As of Monday, Indiana Tech (3-0) holds a one game lead over Davenport (2-1) in the standings with Aquinas (1-1) not that far behind. Siena Heights sits in fourth with a 0-3 record.
As part of the schedule, the Panthers will travel to the Saints campus Tuesday at 5 p.m. Both schools will meet again this weekend as they will play at DU Turf Field Saturday at 6 p.m. Both teams were supposed to meet at the Panthers campus on March 19 but poor weather conditions forced the contest to be postponed.
Davenport scored four straight goals to get within one in the final minutes but a last second shot was blocked as then-No. 3 Indiana Tech escaped with a 14-13 win in their last meeting on March 9.
