Panthers Drop Third Straight Road Game With 20-12 Setback at Indiana Tech

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Sara Kuzava scored four goals, Tara Pluger and Kaitlyn Lowden both added a pair as the Davenport women's lacrosse team closed out the road portion of its 2013 regular-season schedule with a 20-12 Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference defeat at first-place Indiana Tech Wednesday evening. The Panthers will look to snap the two-game losing skid in the regular-season finale as they host Aquinas Saturday at 6 p.m.
 
The Panthers (7-6, 2-3 WHAC) also got goals from Schae Hoebeke, Lexi Kruse, Bridget Zuidgeest and Amy VanEns. Zuidgeest also notched an assist on the evening along with Mackenzie VanDerWarf and Hannah Maroe. Lena Henderson made three saves between the pipes.
 
Although Indiana Tech held a 29-24 shooting edge in the contest, Davenport won the ground ball department 26-24 as well as having fewer turnovers (13-18).
 
Davenport would quick see itself trailing 2-0 when the Warriors (8-1, 4-0 WHAC) scored in the span of 32 seconds in between during the under 28 minute mark. Lowden cut the deficit in half at 25:47, but almost immediately Indiana Tech added on to the lead with back-to-back goals in the span of 29 seconds.
 
Pluger and VanEns would combine for three goals the rest of the half as DU entered intermission trailing 11-4. Davenport would score back-to-back goals four times but couldn't find a rhythm to come within Indiana Tech's reach.
 
Post-Game Notes
Davenport falls to 0-3 in the all-time series against Indiana Tech…Before the Panthers take on Aquinas Saturday, they will honor seniors Amy VanEns and Britteny Willis…Davenport has lost three straight games on the road.
