Scouting Lourdes – 11-8 (6-5 WHAC) – Head coach Andre Smith (4th Year – 62-52 overall)
Head coach Andre Smith and his Gray Wolves have struggled as of late as they have lost  two in a row and six of their last eight. None of those losses however have come by more than 13 points and two of them have come by five or less including an OT loss to now No. 6 Cornerstone. Former WHAC Player of the Week Zach Steinmetz leads the team in scoring (13.5) and rebounding (9.1) while Jake DuPree is tops in assists (1.9) and steals (1.3). Lourdes holds their opponent to just 61.7 points per game while they rank second in the country in total defensive rebounds per game (28.3).

Last Meeting vs. Lourdes
Davenport and Lourdes will be meeting for the third time already this season with the series tied at one win a piece. The Panthers got the win in the last meeting, 58-49 at the Midwest Tournament hosted by Saint Xavier just before Christmas break. That win helped DU finish fifth in the tournament and also lifted them to 2-1 on the weekend. Kevin Rich led the way for the Panthers with 12 points while Nick Gamble and JaVontae Ford each had 11. DU used a big run late in the first half to hold a 25-14 edge at the break and then held off a late second half comeback by the Gray Wolves.

A Defensive Rivalry
Through their first 19 games, Lourdes and Davenport both rank inside the Top-10 in scoring defense with LU at No. 3 (61.7) and DU at No. 7 (63.4).  The Gray Wolves rank inside the Top-25 in five different defensive categories while the Panthers boast eight of those same rankings.

Lourdes and Davenport History
Lourdes, who joined the WHAC in the 2011-12 season, has just one win against the Panthers but it came earlier this season in the Student Center when the Gray Wolves won 59-55 back on November 23. It started a two-game skid for the Panthers as they also lost their next game to UNOH. DU owns a 6-1 edge in the series and this will be the second time in the last three years the two schools will play at least three times in a season. DU handed LU three straight losses during the 2011-12 season which included a win in the WHAC Tournament championship game.
