20th Victory Comes in Sweep Over Aquinas for No. 13 Volleyball

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.  – With a busy WHAC week ahead of them, the No. 13 Davenport Volleyball team swept cross-town rival Aquinas 3-0 on their home court Wednesday night 26-24, 25-12, 25-13. The Panthers improve to 20-5 on the year and 12-1 in league action as they will head to Aquinas Saturday for two neutral matches against Indiana Tech and Concordia.

In set one of the match Aquinas jumped out to a quick 14-8 lead. After a Panther timeout, DU went on an 11-6 run to bring the score to 19-20 and eventually fight for the 26-24 victory.

A .440 hitting percentage in set two gave DU the 25-12 victory followed by another convincing 25-13 victory in set three. DU held Aquinas to just a .097 hitting percentage and forced 17 total attack errors.
Stat leaders for the Panthers included Hannah Stone and Molly Lameyer with 11 kills, Amber Getty with 38 assists and Krissy Dill with 13 digs. The team posted a .346 hitting percentage with 47 kills and five total team blocks.

DU will return to WHAC action on Saturday when they travel to Aquinas to play two neutral matches against Indiana Tech (12 p.m.) and Concordia (3 p.m.).

Davenport is now 6-9 all-time against the Saints and have won the last three match-ups…Rylee Kuiphoff's eight kills on the night was a season best for the sophomore…DU improves to 8-2 at the DU Student Center and 16-2 when winning the first set
