GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. Ā ā The Panthers continued their solid conference play with victories over Indiana Tech and Concordia in the first WHAC crossover of the season. Indiana Tech pushed the match to four sets but DU came out ahead wining 3-1 and then followed with a convincing 3-0 victory over Concordia. Davenport is now 22-5 on the year and 14-1 in conference action.
Match 1 ā Davenport 3, Indiana Tech 1 (25-14, 25-17, 23-25, 25-20)In their first match of the day Davenport went ahead 2-0 with 25-14 and 25-17 set victories. After dropping the third set 23-25 the Panthers recorded a .379 hitting percentage in set four with 14 kills to win 25-20 and close out the 3-1 match victory.
Freshman
Krissy Dill recorded a double-double with 17 kills and 14 digs.
Hannah Stone and
Molly Lameyer both picked up nine kills and
Rylee Kuiphoff (13) and
Morgan Torres (15) where top in digs.
Amber Getty had an all-around match with 47 assists, nine digs, four kills and two block-assists.
Match 2 ā Davenport 3, Concordia 0 (25-7, 25-16, 25-4)In their second match Davenport took a big 14-3 lead in set one and rolled offensively the rest of the way for the 3-0 victory. The Panthers recorded a .354 hitting percentage while defensively holding Concordia to a season best four points in the third set.
The Panthers got 10 kills from Dill and Stone while Kuiphoff chipped in with seven to lead the Panthers. Freshman libero
Morgan Torres led the defensive effort as she posted 15 digs while
Lexie Spetoskey chipped in with 10. Davenport's defense forced twenty errors by the Cardinals and held hem a -.090 hitting percentage.
With three WHAC wins on the week the Panthers maintain their one game lead in WHAC play and improve to 22-5 overall and 14-1 in WHAC action. Davenport will return to action Wednesday with a big road contest against the University of Northwest Ohio. UNOH is the only team to defeat the Panthers in WHAC play this year.
