A Quick Look at Cornerstone – 9-2-2, 4-2-0 WHAC (12 Points) – Head Coach Randy StrawserThe Golden Eagles are coming off a 2-1 home win over Marygrove last Saturday, erasing the bad memory of falling to crosstown rival Aquinas 1-0 prior. Cornerstone returns last year's leading scorer in Lexie Brisson-Fast, who already has knocked in 10 goals, - one more from last year's mark - and four assists. Head coach Randy Strawser has turned to sophomore Allison Snowden between the posts but has given Megan Lamb and Hayley Mohr some playing time. Altogether, the three keepers own an impressive 0.67 GAA.
Panthers-Golden Eagles SeriesCornerstone has been dominant in the series with Davenport, going 7-2-3 in the series. But over the last few years the Panthers have been in control of the rivalry the last seven meetings (3-1-3). In their last meeting against Cornerstone,
Letesha Cannonier scored the eventual match winner off a corner kick to down the host Golden Eagles 1-0.
A Quick Look at Northwestern Ohio – 12-0-1, 6-0-0 WHAC – Head Coach Stuart GoreNorthwestern Ohio has become a dangerous in just its second year as a varsity program. In fact, the Racers have posted their 11th consecutive shutout in a 3-0 win over Aquinas last weekend to run the clock up to 1023:42. Alice Coyne leads the Racers in goals, having scored 10 of the team's 45 on the year. Hanna Ruohomaa is not too far behind Coyne with eight. Thanks to a strong defensive line, goalkeeper Nadine Stonjek has allowed only four this season.
Panthers-Racers HistoryIn just one year, Davenport and Northwestern Ohio have quickly developed a rivalry in women's soccer. Although UNOH drew first blood with a 2-0 win in Lima, the Panthers did get the Racers where it hurt the most - in the WHAC Tournament championship. Both teams were scoreless for 110 minutes but the Davenport prevented the Racers from going to the NAIA National Championship by winning the shootout 4-3 and receive the conference's automatic bid.
