GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – After two tough road victories this week No. 25 Davenport returned home to complete round one of WHAC play against UM-Dearborn. The Panthers needed just three sets and an hour of play to solidify their 5
th straight victory and improve to 15-4 on the year and 10-1 in league action.
Set one and two was dominated by the Panthers as they jumped out to a big leads early and never looked back, winning 25-12 and 25-13. DU hit .297 in set one and .333 in the set two combining for 26 total team kills. In set two the Panthers held UM-Dearborn to a -.032 hitting percentage.
Dearborn had Davenport on their heels midway through the third set but after trailing 11-14, the Panthers scored 14 of the next 18 points to close out the set and match with a 25-18 victory.
Marcey DeHaan led the offensive attack with 12 kills followed by
Krissy Dill (9) and
Molly Lameyer (6).
Lexie Spetoskey recorded 19 assists and Dill was solid on defense with 15 digs in the match.
DU will travel to Siena Heights on Wednesday to face the Saints for the second time this season before hosting their annual tournament Oct. 10 & 11.
