ADRIAN, Mich. – The newly ranked No. 15 Panthers kicked off a very busy week by defeating Siena Heights 3-1 on the road for their seventh straight victory. Davenport improves to 16-4 overall and 11-1 in WHAC action and will return home Friday and Saturday to host their annual Panther Invitational.
Looking to win their 11
th straight road match, the Panthers jumped out to an early 8-1 lead in the first set but the host Saints answered right back with a 12-3 run to take their first lead of the match 13-11. A Davenport timeout and five straight points gave DU the lead back and the eventual first set by a score of 25-18.
The Saints answered back taking set two 21-25 but DU responded back in a big way to claim the third set 25-15 highlighted by a combined nine kills from
Krissy Dill and
Marcey DeHaan. Set four was another back and forth battle for the Panthers but after a 15-15 tie DU tallied off four straight points with a .289 hitting percentage to wrap up the set 25-18 and match 3-1.
WHAC Player of the Week
Marcey DeHaan led all players with 18 kills while
Krissy Dill finished with 12 and
Molly Lameyer 11.
Amber Getty dished out 46 assists to go along with ten digs while freshman
Morgan Torres was tops with 19 defensive pick-ups.
Davenport will return home this weekend to host their annual Panther Invitational on Friday and Saturday. DU will take on No. 23 Ashford University, No. 7 Viterbo University, No. RV St. Thomas University and Olivet Nazarene in the two day stretch.
