SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – The No. 15 ranked Panthers finished their week a perfect 3-0 with three set victories over WHAC opponents Lawrence Tech and Marygrove. Davenport improves to 28-7 overall and 17-2 in WHAC action and will return home Wednesday to face off against Madonna who is currently tied for 1
st place with the Panthers in conference play.
Molly Lameyer racked up 19 kills in the two matches while
Amber Getty earned 72 assists on the afternoon.
Morgan Torres led the defensive attack with 36 digs and
Hannah Stone recorded 9 block assists.
Match 1 – Davenport, 3 Marygrove 0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-12)DU claimed the first set 25-20 but trailed at numerous points and needed a five point run to take the 1-0 lead after being tied 20-20. Set two was again a back and forth match going in the favor of the Panthers giving them the momentum they needed to lock up the third set and match.
Three Panthers recorded double-digits in kills (Lameyer – 10, Stone – 12, Marcey DeHann – 10) and DeHann posted a .471 hitting percentage. Torres led the Panthers in the digs department with 23 and
Amber Getty racked up 42 assists.
Match 2 – Davenport, 3 Lawrence Tech 0 (25-19, 25-15, 25-20)The Panthers took quick leads in set one and two and used a late 7-2 run in set three to defeat the Blue Devils in straight sets 3-0 for their 17
th conference victory.
Seven different Panthers combined for 40 kills and a .290 team hitting percentage. On the net Stone had 5 block assists and Getty three. Getty collected 30 assists and while
Krissy Dill reached for 18 digs.
Davenport will face off against Madonna on Wednesday in a match-up of first place teams at 7 p.m. in the DU Student Center. DU will honor their four seniors
Amber Getty, Lexi Spetosky,
Hannah Stone and
Belma Alic.
Post-Match NotesDavenport remains perfect all time against both Marygrove (5-0) and Lawrence Tech (4-0)…When winning the first set DU improves to 21-2 on the season…The third and final WHAC Crossover will be hosted by the Panthers next Saturday, Nov. 8 with Lourdes, UM-Dearborn and Aquinas coming to the DU Student Center
