ADRIAN, Mich. – The Davenport D1 hockey started their toughest stretch of the season playing their next seven games in 13 days and three games in three days this weekend.
Kody Polin scored the lone goal for the Panthers late in the first period, but Adrian hung onto to win 2-1. Davenport will finish out there weekend playing a two game series at Kent State on Friday and Saturday.

Davenport looked to continue their win streak against fourth ranked Adrian College. In the first period, neither team was able to take control of the game in a helter-skelter start to the game that seen both teams with scoring chances, but the Panthers and Bulldogs could not find the back of the net. Adrian finally broke the scoreless tie with 2:30 left in the first period on shot from the point to but the Bulldogs ahead 1-0 heading into the first intermission.

In the second period, Adrian was able to hold the puck in the Panther end to start the period. The Bulldogs had an abbreviated two-man advantage and Brad Kobryn was able to tap in a loose puck to put Adrian up 2-0 early in the second period. The Bulldogs continued to control the game throughout the period and
Matt Kaludis stood strong in net to keep the Panther deficit at two after the first two periods.

The Panthers had a power play early in the third period as they tried to regain some of the momentum. DU could not capitalize on the power play but the Panthers did take some momentum away from the Bulldogs. Davenport tried to mount a comeback late in the game as
Kody Polin tallied a goal with 54 seconds left in regulation, but Adrian was able to hold on to win the game 2-1.

After the game head coach
Phil Sweeney talked about his team's performance in the game, "Tonight was a battle and it could have gone either way. We played well, we still have some improvements to make, but I am happy with how we are playing. Kaludis gave us a chance to win tonight and a lot of guys played solid. We made a couple adjustments and almost completed the comeback. We have to be ready for Kent State tomorrow, as they are playing good hockey.

The Panthers will now head to Kent, Ohio for a two game series at Kent State on Friday and Saturday. Both games will take place at the Kent State Ice Arena at 7:30 p.m. both nights.
