Live Stats/Audio/Video A Quick Look at Madonna – 3-4, 1-1 WHAC – Head Coach Noel EmenhiserMadonna comes into the weekend with a 3-4 overall record and after losing their WHAC opener against Cornerstone, the Crusaders rebounded on Wednesday to beat Marygrove 96-78 to even up their WHAC record at 1-1. Madonna has three scorers averaging double figures this season, as Kahlil Malone leads the team with 11.7 points per game. Tyler Stewart and Donald Owens round out the three scorers in double figures with 10.9 points per game apiece. Owens is the leading rebounder for the squad averaging 9.6 rebounds per game. As a team the Crusaders are scoring 66.9 points per game and grab 43.4 rebounds per game.
The Last Time They MetIn the last meeting between Davenport and Madonna, the Panthers used a strong second half to beat the Crusaders 71-60. At halftime, Madonna led Davenport 34-33, but DU outscored Madonna by 12 points in the second half to win the game by 11 points. The Panthers had four scorers in double figures, and
Dominez Burnett led Davenport with 19 points. Former Panthers,
JaVontae Ford and
DeArmond Davis had 16 points and 11 points, respectively.
Kevin Rich went 5-for-11 from the field to tally ten points for the Panthers. Former Crusader, Bobby Naubert led all scorers in the game with 21 points and also had six assists in the game.
Panthers vs. CrusadersIn the all-time series between Davenport and Madonna, the Crusaders lead the series 13-10. Madonna won the first five meetings between the teams and won eight of the first nine meetings to start the series. Since coach Paddock took over the program, the Panthers lead have won nine of the 14 matchup's between the two teams. Davenport won both matchups last season by a combined 17 points.
