Grand Rapids, Mich. - The Davenport Women's Rugby team will host the first round of the USA Rugby Division II College Fall Championships this Saturday on the Turf Field. The Panthers will take on Illinois State, who won the Illinois Conference Championship this past weekend after defeating Western Illinois. Kickoff is set for Noon this Saturday with live video coverage.

The Panthers
Davenport comes into this year's Fall Championships with a perfect 8-0 record, and has outscored their opponents 464-27 so far this season. This will be the first time the Panthers have hosted a playoff match in the program's history, and is the first time the team has ever made the playoffs in 15s play.

"I'm very pleased with the team and our progress going into this first ever play-off game here at Davenport." Coach Greg Teliczan said when asked of his thoughts coming into Saturdays match. "We want to come out hard and strong on defense, while playing mistake-free ball control offensively".

The Matchup
This will be the first time Davenport and Illinois State will face off against one another, and the winner of this match will travel to Notre Dame College to compete in the Quarterfinals. Illinois State comes into the contest also undefeated, and captured their conference championship this past weekend by defeating Western Illinois 48-21.
 
Davenport ended their season with a dominating 108-0 victory over Central Michigan on October 25^th, as Brittany O'Dell, Danielle Ordway, Jennifer Harig, Olivia Finch, and Courtenay Tafel all recorded multiple tries for the Panthers in the win.
 
The winner of Saturday's match between Davenport and Illinois State will travel to Notre Dame College in South Euclid, Ohio. to compete in the second round of playoff action.
