GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Davenport men's basketball team will close out their home slate in the 2014 portion of the season as they welcome former Davenport assistant coach, Taylor Langley, and Michigan-Dearborn to the DU Student Center on Saturday afternoon. After being an assistant coach for
Burt Paddock the last four season, Langley took over the reins on the Michigan-Dearborn squad this season.
Rick Berkey will have the call on the Davenport Athletic Network with the tip scheduled for 3 p.m.

Live Stats/Audio/Video A Quick Look at Michigan-Dearborn – 5-8, 2-4 WHAC – Head Coach Taylor LangleyMichigan-Dearborn comes into the weekend with a 5-8 overall record and is 2-4 in the WHAC, and are have won their last two games as they defeated WHAC foe Marygrove at home before they beat Great Lakes Christian College on the road earlier this week. Former Davenport assistant coach, Taylor Langley is in his first season as the head coach of Michigan-Dearborn. Langley has had two players average in double figures this season with Jamiel Strickland leading the way 13.2 points per game and Darryl Mobley has averaged 11.5 points per game. As a team, the Wolverines rank third in the NAIA with 69 total blocks and is sixth in the nation in blocks per game with 5.3 per game.
Panthers vs. WolverinesDavenport leads the all-time series against Michigan-Dearborn winning 16 of the 23 meetings between the two programs. The Wolverines won the first four meetings between the teams and won six of the first eight meetings. The last time Michigan-Dearborn was able to beat Davenport was at the DU Student Center on February 26, 2009 in a double overtime game where the Wolverines edged the Panthers 72-71. Since coach Paddock took over as head coach of the Panthers that was the only loss against Michigan-Dearborn as he holds a 13-1 record them, including winning the last 11 meetings.
The Last Time They MetIn the last meeting between Davenport and Michigan-Dearborn, the Panthers who were ranked ninth in the NAIA DII Polls jumped out to a 14 point lead at halftime. The Panthers continued to pull away in the second half as they took their largest lead of the game of 21 points with 1:08 left in the regulation en route to an 84-63 win over the Wolverines.
Dominez Burnett led the way for Davenport with 23 points to lead all scorers and capped off his double-double with ten rebounds.
Kevin Rich chipped in with 17 points and former Panther,
JaVontae Ford, rounded out the DU players in double figures with 12 points.
