WALESKA, Ga. – Kaitlyn Lowden had three goals and assists each, Taylor Balch also had a hat trick on the afternoon but Emily DeVries' goal was the difference as the Davenport women's lacrosse team never trailed but had to stop Reinhardt's rally and leave Waleska with a 13-12 victory in the season opener and give their head coach Rob Harris his first win in his debut. The Panthers road trip in the south continues Thursday as they visit Emmanuel for a 6 p.m. opening draw.

Freshman Jessica Lemcke had a pair of goals and team-leading six groundballs in her debut and five different Panthers found the back of the net. Fellow rookie Samantha Powers also got the starting nod in goal, making 12 saves while picking up a groundball.

It didn't take long for newcomer Jenna Smith to find the back of the net as she scored the first goal of the game in 18 seconds. Sara Kuzava scored the Panthers second goal with 24:32 left but the Eagles (4-2) answered back 20 seconds later.

Davenport started running away with the lead when two goals by Balch, one from Lowden and Brooke Knoll each, lifted the lead to 6-1 with 17:38 left.

Lemcke and Maroe managed to score before the Panthers went into the break leading 8-4.

Reinhardt scored the first goal of the latter period with 26:32 left and trailed the Panthers by no more than three.

With the help from Lowden, DeVries scored the Panthers 13th goal with 7:18 left and the Eagles would tally two more goals within the final five minutes of the contest.

Post-Game Notes
Davenport picks up their first win against Reinhardt, improving to 1-3
