MBB National Tournament Page
POINT LOOKOUT, Mo. – Davenport University enters their fifth straight NAIA National Tournament in search of their first ever national crown and they will begin that road on Wednesday at 2:45 p.m. EST when they take on No. 24 Ashford University (Iowa). The Panthers and Saints will be one of eight matchups on the opening day on the campus of the College of the Ozarks in Point Lookout, Mo.

Scouting Ashford– 23-9 – Head coach Oliver Drake (4th Year)
Ashford enters the 2014 NAIA National Tournament with an overall record of 23-9. The Saints, under head coach Oliver Drake, are a member of the Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) and got the to the tournament as an at-large bid after falling to Northern New Mexico in the championship game of that tournament. Ashford University has three players in double-figures led by Anthony Woods (15.7). Joining him are Damon Overton (14.7) and DeAndre Lowery (13.4). The Saints average 74.1 points per game on offense while limiting their opponents to 62.8.
National Tournament History
DU has made four straight appearances in Branson with their furthest run coming in 2011-12 when they went to the Fab Four. The Panthers also went to the Elite 8 the year before and are 5-4 so far in their program history with wins over Briar Cliff, Black Hills State, William Penn, Indiana Southeast and Cardinal Stritch.
Record vs. 2014 National Tournament Field
Davenport has played four different teams in the field of 32 and they own a 4-3 record in those matchups. DU defeated non-conference opponents St. Francis (#14) and Dordt (#6) as well as WHAC rival Cornerstone (#5). The Panthers also fell twice to the Golden Eagles, once in a WHAC game and once in the conference tournament finals while also dropping a game to #8 Bellevue.
