PONTIAC, Mich. – Kaitlyn Lowden led the fourth-ranked women's lacrosse team with six goals and three assists in the game. Davenport beat Lawrence Tech 25-10 to move to 4-0 on the season and 2-0 in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play. The Panthers will host third-ranked Robert Morris (Ill.) on Saturday on the DU Turf Field at Noon.
Jessica Lemcke and Taylor Balch helped Lowden on the offensive attack as both Lemcke and Balch had four goals apiece, and Balch chipped in with an assist. Three other Panthers also had multi-goal games as Sara Kuzava and Brooke Knoll had three goals, while Hannah Maroe had two goals in the game. Mackenzie VanDerWarf, Emily Devries and Hannah Bush all tallied goals in the win over the Blue Devils.
Leading the way for Lawrence Tech was Alyssa Shaver with four goals and going 1-for-1 on free position shots. The Blue Devil net minder, Alyse Finley made six saves in the game.
After Lawrence Tech scored the first goal game just 49 second in, Davenport came storming back scoring the next five goals to take a 5-1 lead with 21 minutes remaining in the first half. The Blue Devils strung three goals together to tie the game at five with 12:01 left in the first half. DU out scored the Lawrence Tech 11-0 the remainder of the first half to take a 16-5 lead heading into the half.
In the second half, the Panthers started with a 3-0 run to extend their lead to 19-5. Both teams traded goals throughout the half as Davenport hung on to win 25-10 over Lawrence Tech. The Panthers took control of the draw controls winning 27 of the 36 draws in the game.
The Panthers will have a tough test on Saturday when they host No. 3 Robert Morris (Ill.) on the DU Turf Field at Noon.
