Strong Second Half Leads Women’s Lacrosse to Win over Robert Morris (Ill.)

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The fourth-ranked women's lacrosse team played their first true home game of the season against third-ranked Robert Morris (Ill.). Brooke Knoll led the way with four goals, while Taylor Balch and Kaitlyn Lowden both had three goals apiece. Davenport is now 5-0 on the season. Davenport will conclude their three game home stand on Monday when they host Oklahoma Baptist on the DU Turf Field at 2 p.m.
 
Two of Knoll's goals came from free position shots, as she went 2-for-3 on free position shots. Knoll also chipped in with an assists in the game. Kaitlyn Lowden and Taylor Balch tallied hat tricks, which marks their fourth on the season. Lowden and Jessica Lemcke led the team in draw controls with three each.
 
Robert Morris (Ill.) scored the first goal of the game just 45 seconds into the game to take the early 1-0 lead. Balch put the Panthers on the board and tied the game at one with 23:46 remaining in the half. The Eagles scored the next three goals to take a 4-1 lead with 7:29 remaining in the half.  Davenport was able to score the final four goals of the half to take a 5-4 lead into halftime.
 
Lowden started the scoring for the Panthers in second half to increase the DU lead to two goals. Both teams traded goals midway through the second half and the game was tied at 7-7 with 15:47 remaining in regulation. Davenport scored the final five goals of the game to win the game 12-7.
 
The fourth-ranked Panthers beat the fourth-ranked Eagles to move to 5-0 on the season. First year head coach Rob Harris, has guided his team to a 3-0 record against opponents ranked in the top-ten of the NWLL this season.
 
The Panthers will finish their three game home stand on Monday at 2 p.m. when they host Oklahoma Baptist on the DU Turf Field.
