GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Davenport women's rugby team returned to action this Saturday to take on Notre Dame College (Ohio).
Danielle Ordway had three tries in the game and
Hunter Moreland scored two tires to lead the Panthers to a 46-26 win over the Falcons. Davenport will be play Michigan State on Saturday, March 29 at 9 a.m. to conclude their home schedule for the season.
Notre Dame College started the scoring in the game with a try at the nine-minute mark, and followed it with a successful conversion to take a 7-0 lead.
Ashley Hibbard got the scoring started for the Panthers with a try 17 minutes later.
Hannah Tennant tacked on the conversion to tie the game at seven.
To close out the first half,
Danielle Ordway scored her first try of the game and
Brittany O'Dell tacked on another try to give the Panthers a 17-7 lead heading into halftime.
Davenport continued to dictate play in the second half jumping out to a 41-19 lead over the Falcons with tries from
Joanie Marino,
Hunter Moreland and two tries from Ordway. Notre Dame tacked on a penalty try followed by a conversion to cut the lead to 15. Moreland scored her second try of the game to close out the scoring and give the Panthers the 46-26 victory.
The Panthers will close out their home schedule in two weeks when they host Michigan State on Saturday, March 22 at 9 a.m. in the DU Turf Field.
