ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Davenport women's rugby team combined for 92 points while holding all but one of the three opponents it faced scoreless as the Panthers picked up the wins they needed to advance to the ACRA 7s National Championship semifinal Saturday. DU shut out Merrimack 21-0, Ferris State 33-0 and picked up a commanding 38-5 victory over Utah State in pool play and returns to Grand Valley State Sunday to face an opponent being determined at 9:20 a.m.

Danielle Ordway broke away for half of DU's 14 tries while Hannah Tennant, who also reached the try zone, battled the heavy winds to make 11 of 14 conversions. Hunter Moreland, Julia Mayer, Makala Ferguson, Brenna Donahue and Kaylani Rubley each recorded a try to round out the Panthers in scoring.

Tennant and Ordway did all the scoring in the Panthers 21-0 win over Merrimack to start the day. The duo combined for 14 points in the first half. Merrimack came within seven yards to avoid the shutout but the Panther defense held it in check.

The Panthers struck early again against Ferris State in game two. Moreland and Ordway ran for a try and Tennant made both conversions to extend Davenport's lead to 14-0 at halftime. The break didn't seem to slow Ordway down as the freshman carried the opening kick into the try zone and a Tennant conversion helped put the game out of the Bulldogs reach.

Davenport's eventual winning points against the Utah State came right from kickoff as Donahue carried the ball across the pitch to quickly put the Panthers on the board, giving them a 7-0 lead following another successful conversion by Tennant. Ordway would help Davenport run away with the win with three tries in less than three minutes remaining in the half.
