Wendecker BIOGRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Former captain of the Davenport D1 hockey team,
Phil Wendecker, was named to the American Collegiate Hockey Association's First Team All-American squad for the second consecutive season. In his senior season, Wendecker lead the team to another ACHA National Tournament appearance and finished the season with a 25-12-0-3 record.
In his final season wearing the Panther uniform,
Phil Wendecker captained the team to a second place in the GLCHL along with their fourth straight appearance in the ACHA D1 National Tournament. Wendecker finished the season fourth on the team in points with 36, combining for 17 goals and 19 assists. In his senior campaign, Wendecker also traveled to Italy to take part in the World University Games for Team USA.
Wendecker was also named was also named to the First Team All-GLCHL squad, along with winning the leagues sportsmanship award and most valuable player.
Joining Wendecker as First Team All-Americans were: goalie Matt Cooper (Iowa State), defenseman Chris Joseph (Stony Brook), and forwards Kale Dolinski (Arizona State), Thomas Krysil (Naval Academy), and Mark Zesut (Delaware).
The D1 hockey team finished the 2013-14 season with a 25-12-0-3 record and finished second in the GLCHL in both the regular season and postseason. The Panthers made their fourth consecutive appearance in the ACHA D1 National Tournament before falling in the second round to semifinalist Stony Brook.
