BELLEVUE, Neb.  – In their final match of their trip to Nebraska, the No. 24 ranked volleyball team fell victim to the No. 13 ranked Dordt College Defenders. DU dropped a pair of close sets 25-23 in the first two before falling 25-10 in the third. The Panthers finish their road trip at 1-3 as they will open Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play on Wednesday against Siena Heights at the Student Center.
Looking to close out their trip to the Bellevue Labor Day Classic at .500, Davenport was unable to close out the first two sets and then the Defenders proved too much in the third as DU was sent to their first 3-0 setback of the season.
Davenport had late leads in both of the first two sets but the Defenders, out of the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) showed their grit in pulling out both of then 25-23.
Krissy Dill and
Marcey DeHaan each finished with a team high 10 kills while
Amber Getty finished with 33 assists.
Post-Match NotesDavenport will open league play at home on Wednesday before traveling to Madonna on Friday-Saturday for the Julie Martin Memorial Tournament in Livonia…DU started last season 2-3 and finished 31-10…The trip to Nebraska was the first for the program since its inception in 2006
