Allendale, Mich. – The women's rugby team hit the road for the first time this season as they traveled to Allendale to square off against Grand Valley State. Danielle Ordway matched her season high from earlier this year with five tries in the game, accounting for half of the tries scored by the Panthers in their 58-0 blowout victory.
 
This was the first game of the season for Grand Valley State, but it was not the type of outcome they had hoped for on their opening night. The Lakers were unable to record any points on the night, leading to Davenport's second shutout of the season.
 
Both teams began the game with stout defensive performances, as the match remained scoreless for the majority of the first half. Courtenay Tafel put Davenport on the board first with her first of two tries on the night, followed by a try from Danielle Ordway to send the Panthers into the half with a 10-0 lead.
 
It was in the second half where the Panthers found their burst and exploded for 48 unanswered points. Ordway tallied four more tries for Davenport, as Ashlee Byrge, Brenna Donahue, and Carrie Eggleston all managed to record tries of their own and sent the Panthers on their way to a 4-0 record.
 
Hannah Tennant was consistent in the kicking game once again as she converted 4 of her 8 conversion kicks, and just missed on her lone penalty kick. Danielle Ordway also saw action in the kicking game, but was 0-2 in her conversion attempts.
 
The Panthers look to remain unbeaten next weekend as they return home on Saturday, September 27 to square off against Saginaw Valley State. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m.
