The Davenport Women's Rugby team has been playing lights out rugby so far this season as they enter Saturday with a perfect 4-0 record on the season. The Panthers have one of the best defenses in Division II for they have only allowed an eye-popping 12 points on the entire season.

Due to such success on both the defensive and offensive side of the ball, Davenport made the biggest leap in this week's DII rankings, jumping from #11 to #7 after defeating two Division 1 teams over the last three games. The Panthers return home this Saturday to host the Cardinals of Saginaw Valley State and kickoff is set for 11:00 a.m.

Last week, Davenport hit the road for the first time all season as they visited crosstown rival Grand Valley State, and exploded for 48 points in the second-half. Danielle Ordway tied a season-high with five tries, while five other Panthers also recorded tries on the night. Hannah Tennant was 4-8 on her conversion kicks, but couldn't manage to put her two penalty kicks through the uprights. The Panthers defeated the Lakers 58-0, and improved to 4-0 on the season.
 
The Panthers and Cardinals have only met once in both school's program history, as Davenport traveled to University Center last fall and Blanked the Cardinals 85-0. Saginaw Valley will have revenge on their minds this weekend, but certainly have their hands full with the way Davenport is playing so far this season.
 
Davenport will have a much-needed break following the conclusion of Saturday's match, as their next game won't come until October 10 when the Panthers host Calvin College for the much-anticipated homecoming game.
