GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.  – Davenport finished off a perfect week with their second straight sweep as they defeated visiting Indiana Tech on Saturday afternoon. The Panthers won by the scores of 25-21, 25-12 and 25-21 to improve to 12-4 overall and 7-1 in league play. DU will now focus their attention to Madonna University who is ranked No. 9 in the country in the latest NAIA Top-25 poll.
For the second straight day, the Davenport offense proved to be too much for the visiting team as they posted 48 kills while hitting at a .297 clip. The defense was also up to the task, limiting the Warriors to .161 percentage while finishing with 59 digs and six total blocks.
The first and third sets were very similar with each team going swing for swing but it was late runs in each that propelled the Panthers to identical 25-21 wins.
DU really showed their muscle in the second as they raced out to a big lead and finished off IT with a commanding 25-12 win.
Hannah Stone led all players with 12 kills while
Marcey DeHaan finished with 10. Defensively, DU was led by 15 digs from libero
Morgan Torres while
Belma Alic posted a season high 13 digs and
Lexie Spetoskey 12.
DU will return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Livonia to face No. 9 ranked Madonna University at 7 p.m.
