GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – After being away from action for over a month the Davenport D2 hockey team will be back on the ice this weekend as they open up their second semester schedule on the road against Northern Michigan. The last time the Panthers were in action was at the beginning of December when they swept Eastern Illinois on the road. The weekend series will start on Friday night, before both teams wrap up the weekend series on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. in Marquette, Mich.

Scouting Northern Michigan
 
The Wildcats enter the weekend with a 15-8-0 record on the season and are also back in action for the first time in over a month as they were in action against rival Michigan Tech in early December, were Northern Michigan was able to sweep Michigan Tech by a combined score of 12-4. Dallas Mclaughlin has led the way for the Wildcats with 29 goals and 42 points on the season, as he is one of two players on the team with at least 20 points. In goal, Jeffery Ryan has played the majority games for the Wildcats to compile a 10-7-0 record along with a 3.30 goals against average and a .910 save percentage.
 
The Panthers
 
This season the Panthers put together a 12-1-1 record in the first semester, and they have outscored their opponents 128-33 through 14 games this season. Leading the team in points is Jake Otto with 46 on the season, and Branden Burton is the only Panther with at least 40 points as he has compiled 42 on the season and leads the team with 30 assists. Senior Donald Sund is the leading goal scorer for Davenports as he has found the back of the net 24 time this season. Tyler Kuehl and Andrew Habasevich have split time in net this season to combine a .920 save percentage and a 2.34 goals against average.
 
The Panthers will travel to Marquette, Mich., to face Northern Michigan in a weekend series on Friday and Saturday to start their second semester schedule.
