GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Davenport University men's DII ice hockey matched up against Louisville University on Jan. 17-18, going toe-to-toe with the Cardinals but falling short of a victory after dropping both home games 8-4 and 8-1.

The first contest was a much tighter affair as Brayden Bartlett (assist Lukas Lyszyk) put DU on the board first, the Panthers closing the first period with a 3-2 lead after Willy Healy (assist Lyszyk) and Cole Dixon (assist Bartlett, Gabe Olenzuk) tucked in DU's second and third goals of the night.

However, the Cardinals took command of the ensuing 20 minutes, posting a 5-0 scoring run to take the lead and tallying another score in the third, as Will Healy (assist Everett Ingram, Josh Elwood) tabbed his second score of the season to close the game, 8-4. Anthony Ott (assist Lyszyk) tallied DU's only score in the Jan. 18 contest, with Louisville taking full control to sweep the series with an 8-1 victory. Julian Arenal played all 60 minutes in the second contest and made 35 saves in the loss.

Falling to 2-18 this season, the Panthers' five of six games remaining in the regular season will be at home as they host Indiana Tech on Friday, Jan. 24 to start a two-game series against the Warriors.
