Dominez Burnett scored 26 points and added six rebounds,
Kevin Rich contributed to 17 points and the No. 5 Davenport men's basketball team soared to a 81-60 road win at Michigan-Dearborn to begin the second half of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference season Saturday.

With the win, the Panthers (17-3, 11-1 WHAC) stay at least one game in front of second place Cornerstone and third place Concordia. The Golden Eagles romped the Cardinals in Grand Rapids to leap into second place.

Thomas Drew also reached double figures in points, scoring a dozen. He and Rich combined for five of Davenport's seven 3-point baskets.

Davenport finished the day shooting 47.6 percent from the field and went 14-for-17 on the free throw line. Both the Panthers and Wolverines (6-13, 3-9 WHAC) brought down 36 rebounds.

Jamiel Strickland led the effort for UM-Dearborn with 17 points, Anthony Barley finished with 13 and Gage Throgmorton had 11.

Davenport built a 40-28 lead heading into the locker room. Burnett and Rich combined for 25 points in nearly 15 minutes of playing time to lead the Panthers. The Panthers defense also caused eight turnovers while Rich had three of the team's five steals.

The Panthers complete the two-game road trip Wednesday when they visit Siena Heights. Tipoff is at 8 p.m.
