Box Score MARQUETTE, Mich. – After starting the second semester with a 10-3 win over Northern Michigan on Friday night, the Davenport D2 hockey team continued to roll as they beat Northern Michigan on Saturday 10-4 to complete the weekend sweep. The Panthers had seven different goal scorers to lead them to their fifth straight win as they sit at 14-1-1 on the season. Next weekend Davenport will hit be on the road once again as they face Bowling Green in Bowling Green, Ohio.

Northern Michigan got the scoring started early in the first period, but the Panthers rebounded quickly as
Kyle McConnell was able to get the Panthers on the board and tie the game at one goal apiece. The Panthers closed out the scoring in the first period with three goals, as
Jake Otto,
Donald Sund and
Branden Burton each tallied their first goal of the game as DU took a 4-1 lead into the first intermission.

The Davenport offense continued their run to start the second period as
Daniel Swink and
Dugan Kelly scored to give the Panthers a 6-1 lead, before the Wildcats stopped the six goal run by the Panthers with two goals of their own. Sund tallied his second goal of the game, but Northern Michigan continued the back-and-forth second period with their third goal of the period.
Tyler Thomas capped of the scoring in the second period as he tallied his second goal as a Panther.

In the third period, Davenport was able to cap off their 10-4 win as Burton and Otto each scored their goals of the game.
Andrew Habasevich had 26 saves in the win to grab his seventh win of the season as Davenport who was ranked 11th in the Central Region, was able to sweep tenth ranked Northern Michigan by a combined score of 20-7.

Davenport will be back in action next weekend with a pair of road games against Bowling Green, who is ranked 14th in the Southeast Region.
