GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Panthers and Aquinas College met Wednesday night in their second WHAC match up of the season with DU sweeping the Saints back on September 9. The Panthers took a 2-1 lead in the match as they looked to sweep the season series with Aquinas, but the Saints pulled a comeback victory following a 16-to-14 result in the fifth set.

The Panthers secured a 2-1 lead in the match following victories in the second and third sets after the Saints slipped past DU in extra points to take set one. Molly Lameyer sparked the Panthers with 17 kills for the night while Krissy Dill recorded 11.

Aquinas would pull the comeback starting with a 25-to-20 win in set four where they fought off a late Panther four-point run to tie the match, 2-2. The Saints then overcame DU in the tie-breaking set five with an extra point victory. This set saw each team take multiple point runs as they looked to take the match. DU overcame a 12-to-10 Saints lead to score three straight and eventually continue the match into extra points. Aquinas would outlast DU with a 3-2 victory following their 16-to-14 win in set five.
Sydney Tracer recorded 41 assists to add to the Panther offense while Morgan Torres led the defense with 22 digs. The Panthers fell to 15-15 overall and 7-6 in the WHAC following this setback and will see action against both Indiana Tech and Concordia on October 17.
