BIG RAPIDS, Mich. - The Davenport women's rugby machine kept churning out points and wins on Saturday with a 73-3 win at Ferris State. The Panthers captured the Great Lakes Conference championship and will host a playoff game the weekend of Nov. 14-15 at DU Turf Field.
The Panthers led early and often as
Danielle Ordway converted a pair of tries and
Hunter Moreland added another for a 15-0 burst. Ordway broke the try line again and
Hannah Tennant's conversion missed for a 20-0 lead. The Bulldogs got their points next off a penalty kick making it 20-3.
Ordway's fourth try of the match to the corner made it 25-3. Ordway's dominance continued with a long run down the sideline for a 32-3 lead after she also converted the kick from the sideline. Moreland scored for the second time later in the match to push the lead to 44-3. Moreland's third try made it 61-3 after Tennant's conversion kick.
