PITTSBURGH, Pa. – It is onto the semifinals of the USA Rugby Division II Fall Championship for the Davenport women's rugby team after another shutout on the weekend. The Panthers defeated Cincinnati 81-0 in the quarterfinals on Sunday morning at Founders Field. The team will now play at Furman on Dec. 4.
Danielle Ordway punched it across the try line twice to get things going for the Panthers against the Bearcats.
Hannah Tennant added a three-point kick near the 23-minute mark for a 13-0 lead.
Makala Ferguson powered across for a score and Tennant kicked the conversion for a 20-0 lead.
Brenna Donahue added the next points for DU and Tennant converted the kick for a 27-0 advantage at the half.
Ordway's third try of the match came one minute into the second half and then
Hunter Moreland got involved with a pair of tries and DU led 46-0.
Courtenay Tafel was another player to score in the second half and another Tennant conversion made it 67-0. Ordway scored her sixth try and after conversion it was 74-0. Tafel scored her second of the half for the final tally.
