LIVONIA, Mich. – The Panthers came into their match Wednesday night with Madonna University riding a five-game winning streak. DU met the No. 23 Crusaders who came into the night with a 28-5 overall record and a 17-2 mark in the WHAC.
The Panthers were not able to take a set from the Crusaders despite seeing great defensive efforts as Davenport had three players record double digit digs.
Morgan Torres led the team with 12 digs while
Emma Matthew recorded 11 and
Sydney Tracer tallied 10. The Panthers pushed Madonna into extra points in set two after they came back from a 24-21 score late in the set to score five-straight points. The Crusaders managed to score the final three points to take the set, 27-25, and leave the Panthers behind 2-0 in the match.
Krissy Dill led the Panther attack for the match with seven kills while Tracer added 25 assists. DU was not able take the final set as Madonna recorded a 25-22 victory to take the match in a sweep.
