No. 23 Softball Takes Two at Webber International to Improve to 8-0

BABSON PARK, Fla. – The Davenport softball team concluded its three-day tour around central Florida with a pair of wins over Webber International Thursday afternoon. KC Dunne hit two home runs to drive in three as the Panthers claimed game one 9-3 and a three-run shot by Paige Sant'Angelo in the fourth inning sealed DU's 7-2 win in game two to complete the sweep.

Game 1 – Davenport 9, Webber International 3
Dunne opened things up for the Panthers (8-0) when she hit a two-out solo shot to center field. Although Haley Obetts homered in the third, the difference in the game came in the sixth inning, when a two-run shot by Alyssa Eastman gave the Panthers a four-run lead. The Warriors (6-9) would later score three runs in their half of the inning.

Davenport went to add on to its lead in the seventh inning, scoring five runs including the two-run blast by Alyssa Kozoil and Dunne.

Emily Maves (3-0) went from start to finish striking out 10 but allowing four walks and five hits.

Game 2 – Davenport 7, Webber International 2
The Panthers scored all the runs they needed for the win in the second inning. Eastman led off with a walk, Karli Myers hit a single through the left side and a defensive mistake by the Warriors allowed the two runners to make it home safely. Obetts would send Ashleigh Blovsky home for the third run with a sacrifice fly.

Although the Panthers got a run in on the third inning, the game was put out of reach in the fifth when Sant'Angelo delivered a three-run blast making it just inside the left field foul pole.

Eastman, who has hit safely in every game this season, punched out three and allowed four hits and three walks.

Davenport returns to the NTC Softball Complex the remainder of their Florida trip. The Panthers conclude their battle with The Sun Conference against Northwood (Fla.) Friday at 11 a.m.
