GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – After beating Madonna on Saturday to take a two game lead in the WHAC, the Davenport men's basketball team will return home to face Lawrence Tech to open their final month of regular season action. Live Audio/Stats/Video A Quick Look at Lawrence Tech – 4-20, 1-15 – Head Coach Tom KempfThe Blue Devils come into the week with a record of 4-20 on the season and are 1-15 in the WHAC with their lone conference win coming on the road against Marygrove on January 17th. Jon Harden and Jake Mullin lead the way for the Blue Devils in scoring averaging 9.4 and 9.3 points per game, respectively. Lawrence Tech ranks 15th in NAIA in scoring defense as they allow their opponent to score just 65 points per game. Robbie Geoghegan has the second best three-point field goal percentage in the nation as he shoots 51.7 percent from behind the arc.
Panthers vs. Blue DevilsIn the short series between the two programs, Davenport and Lawrence Tech have met just five times with the Panthers winning all five matchups. Prior to the first meeting this season, the Panthers won the first four games by an average of 19.8 points per game, but with the six point margin in the first meeting this season between the two teams, the average margin of victory for Davenport is no at 17 points per game. The last meeting was also the closet game between the two programs.
The Last Time Against the Blue DevilsIn the last game between Davenport and Lawrence Tech, the Panthers scored a season low 48 points, but the Panthers allowed just 42 which was a season low at that point in the season before they allowed just 41 points to Lourdes on week later. The Panthers also set season lows in three point field goals made (1), three point field goal attempts (9), three point field goal percentage (11.1) free throws made (7) and free throw attempts (13). Davenport shot 48.8 percent in the game as they went on to beat Lawrence Tech 48-42 in their second game of the second semester.
Dominez Burnett has a double-double for the Panthers with 18 points and 11 rebounds, while
Dawid Czerniawski was a perfect 6-for-6 from the field to chip in 12 points for the Panthers.
