Women’s Lacrosse Travels East to Face Indiana Tech

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – After the Davenport women's lacrosse team started their WHAC schedule last weekend with a 17-5 win over Lourdes, the Panthers will travel back to Detroit Country Day School to face Indiana Tech. Both team are ranked in the top five of the NWLL polls. The opening draw between Davenport and Indiana Tech is slated for 10 p.m. on Saturday night in Beverly Hills, Mich., at Detroit Country Day School.

A Quick Look at Indiana Tech
Like the Panthers, Indiana Tech enters the weekend with a 2-0 record, but the Warriors grabbed both of their wins in conference play. After finishing in third place in the NWLL National Tournament last season, Indiana Tech currently sits a fourth in this week's NWLL coaches polls. The Warriors have outscored their opponents 39-17 this season. The leading goal scorer for Indiana Tech in the early going has been Alexa Winter, as she has recorded 11 goals on the season, while Alexis DiGiovanni leads the team with 14 points on the year. Meaghan Eldridge has played both games in goal for the Warriors and has recorded 20 saves, to go along with a .541 save percentage.
 
Panthers vs. Warriors
In the all-time series between Davenport and Indiana Tech, the Warriors hold the series lead winning five of the seven meetings. Indiana Tech won the first three meetings between the two programs, before the teams alternated victories last season with each team winning two games apiece. The team split the regular season meeting, but the Panthers won in the WHAC Championship game, before the Warriors won in the NWLL National Tournament third-place game.
 
Last Meeting between Davenport and Indiana Tech
In the third place game of last season's NWLL National Tournament, Davenport faced Indiana Tech for the fourth time in the season. Indiana Tech took control of the game in the early going scoring three goals in the first 8:42 of the game. The Warriors continued to pull away as they took a 7-3 at halftime. After the teams traded goals to start the second half, it became a game of runs as Indiana Tech scored the next six goals, before the Panthers responded with four of their own, but it was not enough as Indiana Tech won 16-8. The Panthers concluded the season fourth in the NWLL with a 16-4 record, which was a program best.
