Three Game Home Stand for Women’s Lacrosse Continues with Lawrence Tech

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – After hosting Lourdes for their 2015 home opener, the Davenport women's lacrosse team will continue their three game home stand on Saturday afternoon when they host Lawrence Tech. The Panthers enter the weekend with a 4-0 record and are atop the WHAC standings with a 3-0 record. The opening draw between Davenport and Lawrence Tech is slated for 1 p.m. on the DU Turf Field, where Gene Halbert will have the call live on the DAN.

A Quick Look at Lawrence Tech
The Blue Devils come into the weekend with a 5-2 record on the season, and after starting the season 5-0 to move into the third in the NWLL polls, Lawrence Tech has since dropped their last two games against Indiana Tech and Siena Heights. Alyssa Shaver leads the way for Lawrence Tech with 35 goals and 40 points on the season. In net, Marie Klonowski has made 71 saves to go with a 44.4 percent save percentage.
 
The Last Time vs. Lawrence Tech
In the last meeting between Davenport and Lawrence Tech, both teams battled back and forth through  the first 20 minutes of the game as DU led 4-3, but the Panthers pulled late in the first half to take a 10-4 lead at the half. Davenport continued to roll in the second half as they went onto beat the Blue Devils, 18-8.
 
Last Time Out for the Panthers
In the home opener for Davenport, the Panthers scored two quick goals and went on 6-1 run in the first 23:33 of the game as they led 7-2 at halftime. Davenport scored the first four goals of the second half as they took an 11-2 lead with 20:07 left in the game, en route to an 18-5 win over the Gray Wolves.
 
Hitting Milestones
After Taylor Balch recorded her 200th career point earlier this season, fellow senior captain, Kaitlyn Lowden is just 20 points away from hitting the 200 career point mark. Sophomore Brooke Knoll has 95 career points on the season and is five points away from being the fastest player in program history to hit the 100 point mark as the previous quickest was 37 games by teammate Taylor Balch and former Panther Kendra Stieg.
