WESTVILLE, Ind. – Davenport's third-ranked baseball team stepped out of Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play for a Panther vs. Panther matchup Wednesday.
Corbin Clouse allowed one hit in five innings as the Panthers shutout Purdue North Central in game one and the offense came alive in the nightcap to blow away PNC 15-5.

Jordan Zylstra went 5-for-7 with a pair of homers and five RBI on the day to lead the Panthers (27-2).

Game 1 – Davenport 6, Purdue North Central 0After going down quiet in the first two innings, the Panthers would tally five runs in the third.

Ryan Manning would get on base with one out to set up a three-run shot by Zylstra to left field.
Brendan Bender was hit by the pitch afterward and reached third on
Matt Priebe's double.
Zack Sardellitti followed with a sacrifice fly to right and a muffed throw by PNC (11-14) allowed the fifth run across.

Davenport added the sixth run in the sixth. Manning doubled to left center while Zylstra's single the outfield was fielded poorly.

In addition to adding his second win of the season, Clouse struck out five and allowed only two walks.

Game 2 – Davenport 15, Purdue North Central 5Davenport jumped to a 4-0 lead on four straight hits. Manning and Zylstra would go back-to-back with singles and Bender and Priebe combined for three RBI off two straight doubles. Purdue North Central cut the deficit down two one in its half in the first but Davenport got it back in the second.

Tyler Baratono opened the second with a double to left center and took third when
Cam Cooper tallied a hit on a bunt. Manning drove in a run with a sacrifice fly and Bender delivered an RBI single through a hole on the right side.

The Panthers ran away with the lead in the fourth, having scored six runs including a three-run blast by Cooper and a solo shot by Zylstra.

Starter
Corey Sessions lasted only 1 1/3 innings on the mound before turning it over to the bullpen. He allowed four runs on five hits and two walks.
Ryan Butzer (3-0) made his second appearance on the day and allowed a run in his 2 2/e outing.
Brandon MacKinnon went the rest of the way tossing two shutout innings.

Davenport resumes WHAC play Friday and Saturday when it visits Marygrove. First pitch Friday is 2 p.m.
