Panthers Outlast #15 Georgetown College in Sweep at Olivet Nazarene Invite

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The Panthers began their weekend in the Olivet Nazarene Invitational Friday afternoon with matches against Georgetown College and Bethel College. The Panthers swept to open their weekend as they advanced to 10-6 overall and extended their win streak to seven.
Davenport took down Georgetown College, 3-2, in their first match. The Panthers outlasted the Tigers as they took the fifth and deciding set, 15-13. Davenport played back and forth with Georgetown College through four sets as they traded points and set wins. The fifth set saw the Tigers take a 10-to-6 lead, leaving the Panthers with their backs against the wall. Davenport rallied for the 15-13 win led by Marcey DeHaan as she totaled 13 kills. Sydney Tracer contributed 20 assists while Krissy Dill compiled 11 kills and 11 digs.  
Game two saw Davenport take out Bethel, 3-1, as they recovered from a loss in set two to finish day one with a four-set victory. The Panthers went ahead 7-1 in set one to put the early pressure on Bethel. They used this momentum to carry into a 1-0 lead in the match. Following a loss in set two, the Panthers showed their dominance by taking a commanding 25-16 victory. Marcey DeHaan led the offense with 15 kills and Ashley Vanderhorst added 10 kills on a .421 hitting percentage. Sami White contributed to the Davenport attack with 40 assists. The Panthers sealed their victory with a 25-20 win as the defense was led by Morgan Torres as she compiled 16 digs and four other Panthers compiled double-digit dig performances.
